credo

Tinnitus’ mission is to create a space where authors can write themselves and for themselves first. It's a platform for unrestricted self-expression, free from imposed topics, academic structures, or prescribed language. We value the personal voice of our authors — their unique thoughts, feelings, and perspectives that stand confidently on their own, without the need for external validation or references.

Since intimate experiences are deeply intertwined with sociopolitical frameworks, epistemes, and systems of thought, Tinnitus is inherently political. We firmly believe that expressions of personal experiences should be free to explore or critique political ideas. However, Tinnitus is a space for expression, not repression. No promotion of hateful, xenophobic, queerphobic or racist writings will occur in this space.

Writing first for oneself, rather than for others, should not suggest elitism. The intention behind such writing is never to exclude certain groups from understanding. Tinnitus strives to be open to all readers, regardless of background, with the hope of expanding their horizons, not narrowing them.

Tinnitus is, after all, a space for readers too. Our only hope for them is to approach the writings with a broad and critical mind. We trust our readers just as much as our authors — any thought that arises in their minds is worth honoring and reflecting upon. In this space, there is no such thing as overthinking, only thinking. Hence, let us closely listen to the noise around us and within us. Maybe it’s trying to tell us something.

Tinnitus.
